World of Warcraft‘s Wrath of the Lich King (WotLK) Classic players are in for a treat with the Joyous Journeys XP buff, making their path to level 80 as painless as possible.
In this article, we explain the effects of the Joyous Journeys XP buff, how to toggle it on or off, and how long it will last in WotLK Classic, so let’s gear up and jump in.
WoW WotLK Classic Joyous Journeys XP Buff Explained
First and foremost, this XP buff is only for Wrath of the Lich King Classic players. That means it is unavailable in standard World of Warcraft Dragonflight, as well as the vanilla WoW Classic experience.
With the Joyous Journeys XP buff, you will get 50% increased experience gains all the way from level 1 to level 80. Blizzard explains in a post many players might have missed:
The roads in Northrend are icy and fraught with danger. To help you continue your journey, players will get the benefit of the Joyous Journeys experience buff*, which will increase experience gains by 50% for all players through level 80! It’s a great time to finish leveling a character, create a new one, or invite friends to join you in your adventures.
If you log onto WoW WotLK Classic servers now, the buff will be enabled by default. You can, however, turn it off and on again by visiting any Innkeeper NPC in Azeroth’s capital cities or in Dalaran.
How Long Does The WoW WotLK Classic XP Buff Last?
Generally speaking, you would think that the WoW WotLK Classic XP buff will last until the next phase begins. The next phase is the release of the Icecrown Citadel raid, expected sometime in early October 2023.
This time around, however, the Joyous Journeys XP buff has no end date. The developers even noted that this experience buff “will be available during the Icecrown Citadel content update and until further notice.”
This is a pleasant surprise, so we hope all WoW WotLK Classic players notice and finish leveling or start creating some alts! Enjoy!
