Infinity Ward responds after Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare patch causes stat reset error

Some players who downloaded Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’s patch 1.13 have encountered an error where stats have been reset, with Infinity Ward still working on a full solution.


Infinity Ward has confirmed those who clicked "yes" on the prompt should now have their stats reverted back to normal. 

In a new blog post, the developer wrote: "As of today, anyone who clicked 'Yes' and had their combat record stats reset should now see their combat record displaying properly and as they were prior to initiating Wednesday’s title update.

"This won’t restore your customizations, so you’ll need to set those up again to your liking."

If you aren't seeing your original stats, Infinity Ward has urged players to reach out to them.

After patch 1.13 released with crossbows and additional loadout slots, some players were faced with an error after they booted up Call Of Duty Modern: Warfare.

The error message reads: “Your data is corrupt or didn’t download properly. You must reset your rank and unlocks to continue.” 

The issue caused concern for those worried their progress had been lost. Infinity Ward has since released an update which partially rectifies the issue after advising players to close the game if this pops up – although a full fix for those who did click “yes” is still yet to be found.  

In the blog post, Infinity Ward explain they’ve deployed a backend patch to address the issue – which for those who did not click “yes” and simply closed the game, your stats should be back to normal. 

For those who did click the prompt, however, they affirmed they’re working on a solution to the issue – reassuring players their progression isn’t lost. 

“We’re actively working on a fix for this, but do not have one to deploy tonight,” the post reads.  

“You are still able to play the game as usual and your progression will still track, but please be aware that once we do have a fix, we may have to roll back your stats to the state they were in prior to today’s update.” 

The backend fix also addresses a reset issue with loadout slots, whereby custom slots had reverted back to their default state.

Infinity Ward explained the situation, writing: “Part of today’s update included additional loadout slots. If you created classes in these slots, you’ll see that they have been reset back to default.  

“This will only happen one time. If you didn’t create any additional classes in these slots, you won’t notice anything. This also fixes an issue where clicking on these slots could kick some players back to the multiplayer screen.” 

It’s unclear when a further fix will be issued for the stat reset, but this post will be updated when it becomes available.  

These issues come ahead of the new Call Of Duty League, which kicks off in Minnesota on 24 January.
