Operators are not an entirely new concept to the Call of Duty franchise; in recent years, specialist characters have been utilised, with each character having different unique abilities or skills to gain an advantage over the enemy. Unlike in Black Ops 4 or others, Modern Warfare Operators will not have specialist abilities or weapons, however.
The newest operator, Minotaur, was revealed on September 11 with an AR Snapchat Code showing an image of his upper body, as well as a bit of information about him, including that he is Russian and belongs to the Spetsnaz faction.
There are three operator factions that we know of: Coalition, Allegiance, and Spetsnaz. Minotaur is one of 18 Operators as well as three pre-order Operators that are available in Modern Warfare.
It's not yet known which Operators will be available when the PlayStation 4 beta goes live today (Thursday, September 12, 6pm BST), but with Minotaur being revealed so close to the beta release date, it's very possible he will be a playable character during the test period, which ends September 16.
The other operators we know of are as follows:
There's not a lot revealed so far about each operator, and how they differentiate from one another, but much of the Call of Duty community has been staunchly against specialists since their inclusion from Black Ops 3 onwards. If Activision have toned it down slightly, they may have found the perfect addition to Call of Duty.
