Overwatch's Halloween Update Is A Big One

Overwatch's Halloween Update Is A Big One
Bllzzard recently released a new patch for Overwatch, adding in all new Halloween themed skins for each character, a new game mode but - most importantly - changes to the game's mechanics and some heroes abilities. It's live now, so you can get it downloaded ready to play over the weekend and start unlocking those unique Halloween skins - which are only available during this special seasonal event. It also adds in an all-new PvE mode, Junkenstein's Revenge, a horde mode-style game type that has you playing as one of four of Overwatch's characters as you defeat increasingly difficult waves of zombies. Alongside a range of UI, usability and general updates, Blizzard has also implemented changes to the Spectator Mode, allowing for better camera control as well as the use of static cameras. This could be utilised well within the Overwatch eSports scene, allowing for a greater control over the action as it unfolds - which, with the pace of Overwatch, is one of the tougher problems the game has to overcome. Additionally, team names can now be edited in custom games. But there are, of course, a handful of changes to some of the characters too, alongside a number of bug fixes. More specifically, Ana, Junkrat and Widowmaker have been adjusted slightly to improve their viability. Here's the changes Blizzard is bringing with this Overwatch patch, and what the developer says about them:

Overwatch Hero Balance Changes

  • Ana
    • Nano Boost Ultimate cost has been increased by 20%
    • Biotic Grenade Radius has been increased from 3 to 4 meters
Developer Comments: So far, we haven't seen any indication that Ana is too strong overall, but her ultimate charges a little too fast, especially considering the impact it can have on a match. Also, her Biotic Grenades are getting a small boost to help her hit multiple targets.
  • Widowmaker
    • Widow's Kiss Scoping-in animation time has been reduced from 0.5 to 0.33 seconds
Developer Comments: This change will help Widowmaker acquire new targets more quickly and speed up her reaction time in fast-paced situations.
  • Junkrat
    • RIP-Tire Ability now activates more quickly
Developer Comments: Junkrat can be an extremely effective hero in the right hands, but RIP-Tire often felt underpowered when compared to his counterparts.
