That includes the secret Iconic Erebus SMG in Cyberpunk 2077. As you might imagine, many players are sprawling around trying to find it. Luckily, we know where to find the Erebus in Cyberpunk 2077. So keep reading if you want to snag this powerful new weapon and spray down your foes in Night City.

What Is The Iconic Erebus In Cyberpunk 2077?

Erebus Iconic 1

The Erebus is a secret Iconic rarity submachine gun in Cyberpunk 2077. Weirdly, this SMG has the spray pattern of a shotgun. That's right, it's effectively a machine gun-shotgun hybrid. It has a very high rate of fire and is exceptionally powerful in close to mid-range fights. But that's not all.

In Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the Erebus will instantly kill low-health enemies and trigger its unique death animation and sound effect that plays when its victims perish. It's pretty sinister if you ask me. Also, the gun talks — does that make it partially sentient? Maybe. But wait, there's more.

There is another secret extra effect not explicitly mentioned in the weapon description. While firing at your enemies, there's a small chance you can also trigger a quickhack since this gun gets its power from beyond the Blackwall. The Erebus is a monolith of a weapon, small enough for dry-by shootings!

Where To Find Iconic Erebus SMG In Cyberpunk 2077

In case it wasn't obvious, the Iconic Erebus is exclusive to the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty  DLC expansion. In addition, you have only one chance to get your hands on it. If you mess up, it's game over, and you'll need to restart your game. So please follow our next steps closely.

In the starter mission for Phantom Liberty, you must opt to help Soloman Reed. This will give you access to a follow-up mission called Somewhat Damaged. During this mission, you will be collecting the pieces you will need to craft the Iconic SMG Erebus.

Note: If you return to the location after the mission, the weapon parts will not be there anymore. So you must collect them during the task, or you won't get the weapon!

Erebus Iconic 4

Somewhat Damaged

As you progress through the mission, you must restore power to the control panel near the maintenance room. You will find a fuse box in the nearby storage room that you can use to do this. Afterward, you'll gain access to the maintenance room.

Now, this is important as many people miss this next step. You'll find the blueprint for the Iconic Erebus SMG in Cyberpunk 2077 on the table directly ahead of the doors. However, the blueprint is not enough to craft this mighty weapon. You'll need to find another part, which will become available later in the mission.

Keep progressing the mission in the Phantom Liberty DLC until you have to engage with the giant murderous robot. Once this robot has been shut down, do not leave the area. This robot has the final piece you are looking for. Inspect the robot's leg and loot the Behavioral System Component from it.

Erebus Iconic 5

The Corrosion

Great! You are one step closer to getting the Iconic SMG Erebus in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Your journey, however, is not over. Once you complete this quest, you will be given a new quest: The Corrosion

Here, you will have to meet up with the Netrunner Yoko, who will be able to help you prepare that part you took from the robot for integration into the Erebus SMG. Give Yoko the Behavioral System Component and wait for her to do her magic.

After some time, Yoko will be done, and your part will be ready for use. Yoko will issue you a stern warning regarding the darkness of the component you brought her and its dangers. But we don't care about that. We want more power!

She will tell you that she has seen the algorithms running that particular circuit long ago and that you should not let NetWatch catch you. Again, we don't care. Give us the part, Yoko! Finish the dialog and retrieve the chip from Yoko to complete The Corrosion mission.

Erebus Iconic 6

Iconic Erebus Lore

Now, with the newly modified chip and the weapon blueprint, you can craft the Iconic Eredus in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Once crafted, take that bad boy for a spin and cause mayhem and destruction around Night City and Dog Town. You know you want to.

Fun Fact: the lore behind Erebus is quite significant, as the name "Erebus" means the "God of Darkness," "Son of Chaos," and "Brother of Night." The gun's description in Cyberpunk 2077 also states that it draws on dark energy from beyond the Blackwall. In addition, the weapon pays homage to the homicidal sentient gun in the Judge Dredd series. Both are equally capable.

And that's a wrap! We hope you enjoyed reading how to get the secret Iconic Erebus in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty—looking for even more awesome guides like this one? Say no more.
