The Call of Duty League is entering its final weeks, as Activision has announced the details for the Call of Duty Championship 2021, where the top eight teams throughout the 2021 Season will battle for the glory and the trophy.

The emotions and the passion of all the fans will be higher than ever, as the CDL Championship will be returning to LAN after a one-year hiatus. Let’s take a look at everything revealed for the final showdown of the 2021 Call of Duty League.

CDL Champs 2021 will feature the eight teams with the most accumulated CDL Points throughout the entire season, thanks to their results during the five major stages. As of now, the following teams have earned their ticket to the Playoffs:

  • Atlanta FaZe
  • ⁠Dallas Empire
  • Toronto Ultra
  • New York Subliners
  • OpTic Chicago
  • Minnesota RØKKR
  • ⁠Los Angeles Thieves

The Championship will begin on 19th August, where the seeds from the third to the eight place will battle in the first round of the Playoffs.

The bottom two teams will be waiting at the Elimination Bracket, while the remaining teams will be battling in the Winners’ Bracket for the advance to the second round, where the top two teams from the Season will be seeded thanks to their good results.

Each of the matches in the CDL Champs 2021 will be played on best-of-five series, with these maps being chosen for each of the game types in the tournament:

  • Hardpoint: Apocalypse, Checkmate, Garrison, Moscow, Raid
  • Control: Checkmate, Garrison, Raid
  • Search & Destroy: Express, Miami, Moscow, Raid, Standoff

Call of Duty Championship 2021: Prize pool

As revealed back in January, the CDL Championship 2021 will feature a prize pool of $2.5m, being the second biggest at stake in the history of CDL esports, surpassed by the $4.6m of its 2020 edition.

  • 1st Place: $ 1,200,000 USD
  • 2nd Place: $ 650,000 USD
  • 3rd Place: $ 300,000 USD
  • 4th Place: $ 150,000 USD
  • 5th-6th Place: $ 75,000 USD
  • 7th-8th Place: $ 25,000 USD

The team that manages to reach the top and is crowned world champion, will have the privilege and glory of lifting the Championship trophy, as well as being honoured within Warzone like Dallas Empire, after taking victory in 2020.

Call of Duty Championship 2021: Tickets and how to watch

Tickets for the CDL Champs 2021 in the Galen Center of the University of Southern California will be available on 16th July from the CDL website. More detailed information regarding health and safety protocols at the Galen Center, as well as the maximum capacity permitted at the venue, will be revealed in the next few days.

In case you don’t have a chance to go, the Call of Duty Championship 2021 will be streamed live from the CDL’s official YouTube channel on 19-22nd August 2021.

All viewers will also have the chance to earn exclusive in-game rewards for CDL: Warzone and CDL: Black Ops Cold War, by watching the matches all weekend long.
