Call of Duty League 2022 Preview: Format, Rosters, PTW, more.

The third coming of the main Call of Duty tournament in the world is nearing us at full speed and we will tell you everything you need to know to enjoy this new season.
Call of Duty League 2022 Preview: Format, Rosters, PTW, more.

The new calendar year is coming hot and there are plenty of things to get excited about in 2022, especially if you’re a fan of the Call of Duty franchise as the most important tournament of the game will have its third edition.

The Call of Duty League has been a refreshing distraction to everything going on with a great debut season back in 2020 with the crowning of Dallas Empire over Atlanta FaZe is a very lopsided series that ended 5-1 in favour of the Texas-based team.

Last year, FaZe came all the way back to claim the title with back-to-back finals appearances, which raises the obvious question: Who will stop Atlanta from reaching its third straight final with the Call of Duty League back on in 2022.

The format will change in Call of Duty League 2022

Will there be a team that can stop ATL FaZe from going to back-to-back-to-back finals?. (Picture: Activision)

If there is one team that has been constant in the regular season has been the one led by aBeZy as they claimed the first seed in both tournaments although that will not guarantee any benefits this time around.

Once again, the tournament format will be modified to provide a better audience experience this time no team will enjoy a bye-round in playoffs as all eight teams that reach the final stage will play every round in playoffs.

For the first time in tournament history, we will change the hosting edition as previous tournaments were played in COD Black Ops Cold War while this one will be played in the recently released Vanguard with the Hardpoint, Search and Destroy and Control as the game modes for each match.

CDL 2022 Rosters

Another change happening this season is the merge between Chicago Huntsman and the former champions, Dallas Empire, as both were absorbed by the alliance between Envy and OpTic creating OpTic Texas.

This changes the total teams registered from 12 to 11 having eight US-based franchises and three International ones:

  • Atlanta FaZe (Current champions)
  • Florida Mutineers
  • Los Angeles Guerrillas
  • Los Angeles Thieves
  • Minnesota R0kkr
  • New York Subliners
  • OpTic Texas
  • Seattle Surge
  • Toronto Ultra
  • Paris Legion
  • London Royal Ravens

Players to Watch for the CDL 2022 season

As you may have already noticed, there are plenty of things to get railed up about the upcoming season of the Call of Duty League but if this is going to be your first rodeo there are a couple of players you have to follow to get the best of this experience.

This section would be empty without aBeZy from Atlanta FaZe, as the current champion is the face of the franchise and the league and considering his age he should be the man to beat for at least a couple more years.

Of course, we have his old nemesis and Season 1 champion, Shotzzy, now a part of the merge between former teams and the birth of OpTic Texas.

Another former champion will be playing for the second season in a row with the New York Subliners as Clayster will be leading the manhattan based team.

The first major will be hosted by Optic Texas

One of the first few details we know is that both the Kickoff tournament and the first major will be held in Texas as different teams will host each of the four majors throughout the season.

OpTic Texas will be home for the first of them while the rest of the hosting teams and cities will be released on later dates.

We only have about a month left before kickoff while the league officially starts the first week of February and we will keep you updated so you can enjoy the third season of the Call of Duty League in 2022.
