COD Players Still Finding Fault with the Reworked UI Ahead of Black Ops 6 Release

Fans continue to criticize Activision for their poor UI, despite the recent overhaul for the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

With the release of Black Ops 6, Activision’s developers have refined several core gameplay elements to ensure a smoother launch and set the stage for future titles. One notable update is the redesigned UI for launching the game client and selecting which game to play.

Unfortunately, this update has received mixed reactions, with numerous players voicing their frustrations online. Let’s dive into the reasons behind the disappointment surrounding the new UI changes in Call of Duty.

COD Players Still Unhappy with UI After Update for Black Ops 6

A common frustration for many Call of Duty players, including myself, is the game’s UI, which requires you to launch a hub application before selecting your game. This process often feels unnecessarily complicated, as the hub closes and reopens when you finally load into the game, making it a frustrating experience for those eager to jump right in.

In response to this—and with Black Ops 6 just around the corner—Activision has decided to overhaul the UI, aiming to streamline the flow from launching the hub to entering the game.

The updates now allow players to see all the available games under one tab, while the home screen highlights the most relevant or recent content, including last-played modes. Despite these improvements, however, many players still find the new layout confusing compared to other games.

UI smoother but still frustrating

On the r/CallOfDuty subreddit, players have continued to express their dissatisfaction with the revised interface. One player voiced their frustration, stating, “What is the improvement supposed to be actually with the ‘updated’ version? You still have to launch HQ, navigate to the game you want, and then launch the game.”

This sentiment was echoed by others wishing for a simpler experience. One player remarked, “Man, can games just go back to being their own damn client application? Why does it have to be like this?” Another added, “I miss the days when the game was just THE GAME.”

While we understand that combining multiple Call of Duty titles with Warzone might be more technically efficient, it’s clear that many fans are frustrated. Hopefully, Activision will acknowledge these concerns and explore either splitting the games into separate applications or finding a way to make the experience feel more seamless and offer quick access to the different COD titles.
