Modern Warfare 2 Has Nearly Out-Sold Call of Duty: Vanguard After Just 2 Weeks

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is by far the most popular Call of Duty game we've seen in year, but recent data published by GamesIndustry.biz shows that Modern Warfare 2 was also the highest-selling game in the month of October within Europe; despite having only released on October 28.

It's been almost 15 days since the release of the game, but it already looks as though it's set to match the lifetime sales of the Sledgehammer Games outing from 2021.

"Modern Warfare 2 -- after just two weeks -- is already on the brink of out-selling Call of Duty: Vanguard's lifetime performance across European markets" Christopher Dring, Head of Games B2B at GamesIndustry.Biz explained earlier this morning.

At the time of writing, Modern Warfare 2 is remarkably the third best-selling game of the year (after just two weeks) just behind the sales for Elden Ring, widely regarded as one of the games of the year.

Activision also confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is by far the fastest-selling game in the franchise, with over $1 Billion in sales in 10 days.

This record was previously held by Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which took 15 days to reach the Billion Dollars figure in 2012. Over a billion multiplayer games have also been played across all platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4,  Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

We imagine the sales are only going to snowball as we approach the holidays, and not least given that Activision is set to release the first season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 along with Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 on November 16.

The craze and the popularity of the game are surely set to skyrocket with the new update on the horizon.
