OpTic Gaming Los Angeles superteam revealed for CDL

Some of the greatest CoD players are united under the new OpTic banner ahead of the franchised Call of Duty League launch next year.
OpTic Gaming Los Angeles superteam revealed for CDL

The second CDL LA franchise has been revealed to be OpTic Gaming LA as expected, with a star-studded roster set to debut in the CDL.

With Eric "Muddawg" Sanders as general manager, the following players were announced:

  • Thomas "TJHaLy" Haly
  • Jordan "JKap" Kaplan
  • Austin "SlasheR" Liddicoat
  • Brandon "Dashy" Otell
  • Kenny "Kenny" Williams

Two time world champion JKap was signed to Evil Geniuses before being picked up by OpTic while SlasheR, who won the 2016 World Championship with JKap, was playing for 100 Thieves alongside Esports  Console Rookie of the Year winner Kenny.

Both TJHaly and Dashy were already in OpTic ahead of the league's developed into a franchised system and have stayed on with the team.

The lineup is being hailed as one of the strongest announced so far with some of the best CoD players included, but others are still unforgiving of this 'new' OpTic Gaming.

Many fans were unhappy with the OpTic brand coming under new management after Immortals Gaming Club acquired Infinite Esports & Entertainment earlier this year.

Not only did Immortals get the rights to use the OpTic name and branding, they got a League of Legends LCS spot they had been denied previously and control of Overwatch League team Florida Mayhem until a sale is finalised due to their ownership of LA Valiant.

The departure of Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez from the brand saw him go to NRG Esports as CEO of their LA Chicago franchise expected to be called 'Chicago Huntsman' when revealed. A rivalry between the currently unannounced LA Guerrillas as domestic rivals and the future Chicago Huntsman is more than likely.

Chicago Huntsman have former OpTic veterans Seth "Scump" Abner and Matthew "FormaL" Piper on the team which will see OpTic fans loyalties split between the iconic name and the iconic players who were part of the 'old' organisation.
