Can You Play Split-Screen In COD Modern Warfare 2?

If you've been a fan of the Call of Duty franchise throughout the years, then you've likely enjoyed grabbing an extra controller and playing a few rounds of split-screen action with your friends. However, now that the newest mainline installment, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, is here, many fans wonder if you can still play local split-screen in this new title.

Can You Play Split-Screen In COD: Modern Warfare 2?

To answer this question briefly: Yes, you can play split screen in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Even as the gaming industry strives for purely online experiences, Activision has yet to abandon local split-screen multiplayer, and its latest title will be no exception.

Better still, you can play in Modern Warfare 2 in split-screen mode in local rounds against your friends or online in multiplayer game modes. But remember, you'll need an account that can play Modern Warfare 2 online.

How To Play Split-Screen On COD: Modern Warfare 2

At the time of writing, split-screen multiplayer is only available on the PlayStation and Xbox versions of the game. Previous Call of Duty PC releases did not include split-screen multiplayer. Since it was missing from the Modern Warfare 2 beta, it's safe to assume that it won't be included in the new game either (unless Activision specifically states otherwise).

Below are the steps you need to follow to enable split screen in Modern Warfare 2:

• Launch the game, then navigate to the Multiplayer settings under the main settings tab on the home page.
• Then, depending on whether you're on the Xbox or PlayStation platform, you'll need to connect a second controller to the console and press X or A to sign in.
• Following that, you must select and sign in to the account you want to play on. It should preferably be your friend's account, with whom you will share the screen in the shooter's multiplayer mode.
• It should be noted that the split-screen feature will only function if both players have an active Xbox Live/PS Plus membership. Furthermore, it will not work if you do not have this subscription.
• Both profiles must also have an associated Activision account, or you will be required to create one when logging into the title.

After that, you should be signed in to the game, and the split-screen should be reflected in your in-game party. So get out there and enjoy some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 couch sessions. That's all about Modern Warfare 2 Split Screen.
