Warzone Season 6: Release date, map changes, new weapons and more
The next update to Call of Duty: Warzone is just around the corner with the release of Season 6. Although Warzone developer Infinity Ward has kept relatively quiet about the upcoming season, we’ve been able to piece together a few details about what’s to come.

Warzone Season 6 release date

A new reveal from the Call of Duty League may have just given us our first glimpse of the Warzone Season 6 release date.

According to CoD League team Minnesota ROKKR, a $100,000 Warzone tournament will begin on 29th September to “celebrate the start of Call of Duty Season 6.”

Interestingly, this would indicate a release date on Tuesday 29th September, but it’s worth noting that Warzone season updates tend to launch on Wednesdays, rather than Tuesdays.

With that in mind, the update to Season 6 could instead drop on Wednesday 30th September.

Map Changes

Of course, a new season will bring with it all kinds of new content. One thing that has players talking the most is the leaked addition of some brand new subway stations that were also leaked thanks to the Call of Duty League.

Whether the game will see an active transportation system or just a new underground area to explore, remains to be seen.

There’s one thing we know for sure, however, and that is that the subway in question isn’t yet in Warzone.

New Weapons

It’s about time that we had some new weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone and YouTubers like NICKMERCS are likely ready to jump at the chance to make a brand new video on the subject.

A new season usually means at least one or two new weapons will be making their appearance, and we have a good idea as to the identity of one of them already.

The AS VAL assault rifle has been pictured online, albeit with some unfinished modelling, and is all but confirmed to be coming in Season 6. As for any further weapons, we’ll just have to wait and see when the update drops later this month.

Black Ops Cold War

With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War just around the corner as well, we’re likely to see some new content in Warzone as part of a cross-over with the upcoming game.

Cold War will hit shelves on 13th November, and Activision has confirmed that progression will be shared between Warzone and the new Black Ops game.

In a "Know Your History" event, Infinity Ward sent players looking for keys around the Warzone map, before rushing to the map’s iconic stadium to avoid a nuclear explosion.

This has led to a lot of players believing that Season 5 of Warzone could end with a nuclear blast event that could reshape the world as we know it.

Perhaps this could be our first major update to the game’s map and the nuke could usher in a new Cold War theme to the game.
