Apex Legends is a hero shooter game that offers players multiple game modes, including battle royal, 3v3 arenas, and rotating limited-time game modes. The game comprises an array of characters known as Legends, and each has its unique backstory and abilities that affect its gameplay. Players start with the option of 6 Legends and can unlock the other characters with Legend Tokens earned from leveling up.
The game is free-to-play but includes in-game purchases such as items and the Battle Pass, allowing players to earn more rewards and in-game currency. Apex Legends is constantly updated with new characters, maps, skins, and accessories. Seasons rotate every three months.
The battle royale mode of Apex Legends works similarly to other battle royale games, where players must navigate a map while acquiring weapons, armor, and attachments. In addition, some of the limited-time game modes include Control and Flashpoint.
An internet connection is required to play Apex Legends as there are no single-player features available.
The story of Apex Legends revolves around the Legends participating in the Apex Games, a vicious broadcast bloodbath, much like ancient gladiators. The Apex Games are run by the mysterious Syndicate and headed by the game commissioner, Kuben Blisk. The Syndicate claims that they present the Apex Games to give hope to those living in the Outlands.
Apex Legends is a spinoff from the Titanfall series and takes place after an event known as the Frontier War, which took place on colonist planets called the Outlands that had decided to make a life for themselves. Many Legends participated in the Frontier War or are tied to it in another way.
The game dives into the stories of the individual Legends, using each season to focus on a handful of characters. Some participate in the games for rewards, while others have more serious intentions, such as learning about the Syndicate or seeking revenge. Each character’s actions can affect the gameplay experience. For example, when Crypto entered the game, he hacked the Syndicate’s network, causing widespread panic, and resulting in the Apex Games arena changing to World’s Edge.

Most guns are well-balanced and are constantly being tweaked to provide a better playing experience. Likewise, Legends’ abilities are also tweaked regularly to ensure that all Legends are viable in the game.

Apex Legends’ popularity has grown so much that it caught the eyes of the professional gaming leagues. As a result, several esports organizations globally have put together dedicated teams to compete in Apex Legends.
The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS), hosted by Respawn Entertainment, brings together the best Apex teams worldwide to compete for a lucrative prize pool. The ALGS Championship for 2022 will be held between 7-10th July and streamed live on Twitch, where they will also be dropping codes for in-game rewards.
