In addition to the official gameplay reveal trailer, Activision released the COD Modern Warfare 2 announcement blog post on their official website. The detailed breakdown highlights some of the core gameplay content and features that players can expect to see on launch day.

The post details exciting content fans can expect in the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign, pre-order information, as well as the Spec Ops that will be available. But perhaps the biggest revelation of the day was the return of an ultra-popular game mode.

Further comments from the game developers (confirmed by both Gamespot and CharlieIntel) revealed that Gunfight would return in MW2 (2022). The popular game mode won't be available at first-launch but has been confirmed as an addition later in the year.

The ultra-popular mode will still run with two duos squaring off in tight quarters with a limited time to kill each other. In Gunfight's previous run, each team would use the same class and would change every two rounds. The first team to win six rounds wins the game, creating fast-paced action to keep players on the edge of their seats.

While Gunfight mode was confirmed for 2022, there has not been an official hard date yet provided by the game developers. We'll continue to monitor the situation and will update you if and when the release date is revealed.
