Warzone update nerfs FARA 83, C58, Nail Gun and barrel attachments

A new Warzone update released on 30th June 2021 has nerfed the FARA 83 as well as the C58, while some attachments have received balance changes as well.

UPDATE: The 30th of June patch has been rolled back shortly after its release due to unforeseen issues, but it has been re-released again on 2nd July.

Original story: With the massive balance changes in the Warzone Season 4 update released in mid-June, there was bound to be some imbalances. The FARA 83 is considered the "new meta" and it appears the developers have deemed the Assault Rifle to be a bit too strong. Alongside the FARA 83, the C58 has also been climbing the ranks, with one of the best k/d ratios at 1.20. Now, the developers have stepped in, nerfing the FARA 83, C58 and the Nail Gun in a new Warzone and Black Ops Cold War update released late at night on 30th June 2021.

Warzone update nerfs FARA 83, C58 and Nail Gun

Only three weapons have received a smack from the mighty nerf bat. Check out the nerfs in the latest Warzone update below.

C58 (BOCW)

  • Recoil increased slightly

FARA 83 (BOCW)

  • Recoil increased slightly

Nail Gun (BOCW)

  • Maximum Damage range decreased by 39%

In the patch notes, the developer explains the nerf to the Nail Gun:

"The Nail Gun (BOCW) is and was meant to be a lethal, highly mobile, short-range dominator. However, its Maximum Damage range far exceeded the lethal range of Shotguns, which it is intended to contest.

"The Nail Gun’s (BOCW) generous range and mobility allowed it to consistently dispatch foes at the same speed or faster than Shotguns at almost twice their effective range. While the Nail Gun’s (BOCW) pick rate has remained relatively low, we believe it would have been much higher were it more easily accessible."

That's not all,  however, as some attachments have also received balance changes.

Warzone attachment balance changes

We suggest you take a close look at your current loadout for your favourite weapon, as a few attachments have received balance changes.

This round of attachment balance changes focuses on Recoil Control in relation to Black Ops Cold War barrels. The developers want "the effectiveness of a Weapon to grow with the wielder as they improve" and to achieve their goal, they are nerfing the Recoil Reduction on several barrel attachments.

Ranger (except AK-47 & XM4 BOCW):

  • Vertical Recoil Control decreased from 15% to 10%

Takedown (ARs except for AK-47 & XM4 BOCW)

  • Horizontal Recoil Control decreased from 15% to 10%

Reinforced Heavy / Match Grade / VDV Reinforced (Assault Rifles, Light Machine Guns)

  • Vertical Recoil Control decreased from 7.5% to 5%
  • Horizontal Recoil Control decreased from 7.5% to 5%

Task Force / Spetsnaz RPK / CMV Mil-Spec (Assault Rifles, Light Machine Guns)

  • Vertical Recoil Control decreased from 15% to 10%
  • Horizontal Recoil Control decreased from 15% to 10%

The developers explain this change to barrel attachments: "We want Weapons to reward you for learning their reload timings, recoil patterns, and bullets to kill. Your proficiency with a Weapon should be a journey that is worked toward with an equivalent payoff.

"When we make Weapons too effective and too easy to control, there is no journey of mastery and we can become disinterested with these Weapons much quicker - which we feel can be a disservice."

So there you have it, the nerfs to the FARA 83 and C58 via the latest Warzone update, as well as several balance changes to Cold War attachments.
