When games go seasonal, which they all seemingly do these days, it's expected that some seasons are going to be more significant than others.
If it's a battle royale, story progression is usually slow, so one update may add or remove a few POIs, while another may offer up an entirely new map.
Likewise, with the season's accompanying battle pass, one season could see the game get a blockbuster tie-in that introduces a host of new cosmetics, features, and weapons, while a lesser season might throw up some decent skins to grind for.
As said, it's the nature of the beast, and it's safe to say that, considering what we've seen so far of Season 5, Call of Duty: Warzone is currently playing it safe, but there is a good reason for that as this is the second-last season before the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard which will act as a soft-reboot of the entire game.
But because of that last fact, Season 6 -- the final one to be played on Verdansk -- will likely be like nothing we have ever seen before with Infinity Ward coming back (they handed off to Raven Software shortly after launch) to take a hand in development.
So if you want the lowdown on this ultimate season, then keep on reading.
When does Call of Duty: Warzone: Season 6 come out?
An exact release date for Call of Duty: Warzone Season 6 has not been released, though historically seasons have run for eight weeks, with Season 5 beginning on the 13th August that means an approx. state time of 8th October for Season 6.
Interestingly, Vanguard is expected to be released on 5th November, and with aspects of Vanguard already seeping into Warzone as seen by the Vanguard reveal event, there is potential for some overlap season before perhaps Verdansk is abandoned completely for the new confirmed Vanguard Warzone map.
What can we expect from the new season?
There are a few guarantees and then a lot more than we simply can't know of yet.
There will be a new battle pass, with its usual slew of rewards and cosmetics; there will also likely be 2-5 new weapons, two of which will be tied to the battle pass like there is every season.
There will also likely be a cross-over with Vanguard. Verdansk has been the Warzone map for two years now and has become iconic in its own right; Infinity Ward -- who are taking the reigns from a development POV once again -- will likely want to plan something spectacular for its suspected send-off.
We will update this page with more information as we get it.
