Thanks to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s inclusion of the MP5, nobody has forgotten just how lethal this fully-automatic SMG can be in-game. However, whether or not this weapon will define the meta of Black Ops Cold War, only time will tell.
Initial reports suggest that the Cold War MP5 has a longer Time To Kill (TTK) than other iterations of the classic gun, but its high rate of fire makes this class more than just a viable piece of kit. In fact, run the right loadout with the MP5 and we’d say it holds its own as one of Cold War’s best weapons, at least in the Alpha.
Best MP5 Loadout for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Taken straight from one of the greats, this is the loadout that pro-gamer Scump uses in his Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War setup. We can’t promise that it’ll help you dominate the competition like he does, but it’ll put players on the right track.
- Muzzle: Sound Suppressor
- Barrel: 10.8” Paratrooper
- Underbarrel: Foregrip
- Stock: Sprint Pad
- Handle: Quickdraw Handle
Given the amount of player detection in a game like Cold War, a Sound Suppressor helps you stay silent when you want to be. This is the most optional part of the loadout, but we’d suggest sticking with it, given that the MP5 excels in a short-range environment.
Adding the 10.8” Paratrooper barrel to your MP5 is a must, however. This attachment may make it slightly slower to aim down sights, but it’s worth it for increased range and a great boost to bullet velocity. This attachment alone makes the MP5 a far more capable mid-range SMG.
The Foregrip will eliminate your horizontal recoil significantly, and the Sprint Pad has you able to fire 18% faster when coming out of a sprinting animation. Those who have ever witnessed the power of the MP5 in action will know how vital it is on this weapon.
And finally, we come to the Quickdraw Handle. True to its name, this attachment will mitigate some of the aiming down sight penalty accrued by your barrel choice. Although the MP5 may not always require its wielder to be using the sights, it’s still a good option to have on the go.
