New Warzone Pacific bug turns Kar98k semi-auto

Warzone Pacific's 1.50 update has dropped this morning and it looks like it inadvertently turned one of the most popular marksman rifles into a semi-auto rifle.

Warzone Pacific's 1.50 update is now live and with it, one of the most important things since the release of the battle royale - the Ricochet anti-cheat system PC kernel-level driver that would hopefully put a stop to the lingering issue with cheaters in Call of Duty's battle royale.

The update also nerfed one of Vanguard's most popular assault rifles in Warzone Pacific, the Automaton, and fixed a few annoying bugs and other minor issues.

But, as it usually goes with patches and bug fixes, fixing some bugs often breaks something else, and this time around some Warzone players have spotted that the Kar98k was accidentally modified and it now acts as a semi-out rifle.

Is Kar98k now semi-auto in Warzone?

The Kar98k (Modern Warfare's version) is for almost two years now one of the most dominant sniper/marksman rifles in Warzone.

The weapon packs a big punch while being relatively light, easy to handle, and extremely precise. The combination of high power, range, and mobility is what makes it so great in Warzone; it's the perfect weapon for roaming around the big maps like Verdansk and Caldera.

And from today, the Kar98k is even more broken, as players have noticed that the weapon's fire rate was boosted and it now behaves almost like it has a semi-auto mode.

The bug (or at least we hope it's a bug) was first spotted by a member of the KARNAGE Clan, KRNG Depv, who shared the video shortly after the patch went live, showcasing the "improved" fire rate of the rifle.

In the video, he can be seen using the Kar98k, which now fires bullets one after another in quick succession, significantly faster than you would expect from this bolt-action rifle, which usually requires the shooter to manually extract a fired cartridge by using a bolt-action mechanism.

The extraction animation is now also missing (originally you would see a hand using a bolt-action mechanism to replace the cartridge), instead, the Kar98k now fires bullets rapidly like a semi-auto rifle.

Other players have also noticed this undocumented change and started sharing their videos on the Warzone subreddit, but at the time of writing, Warzone developers, Raven Software, haven't yet acknowledged the issue.

At the moment, we are not sure if this bug is universally present or if something needs to happen in order to trigger it.

It also seems that the weapon didn't lose any of its firepower, and with this drastic increase in fire rate, the Kar98k is currently beyond broken, so hopefully the developers will react quickly and fix the bug.
