How Much Time Does DayZ Maintenance Normally Last?

How long is server maintenance in DayZ? Here's what you need to know.
How Much Time Does DayZ Maintenance Normally Last?

If you're reading this, we're willing to bet that DayZ servers are currently offline. Whether that's for scheduled maintenance or unplanned downtime, is hard to say; but given the game has a fairly good track record of staying online, chances are it's planned server maintenance from the Bohemia Interactive development team.

Due to the fact that DayZ is an online-only game - like so many others these days - scheduled maintenance is a common occurrence. But this also means that the game is unplayable if the servers do go down for maintenance.

Assuming that the devs are rolling out a sizeable new update or hotfix for the game, you've probably got questions like 'how long will servers will be down' or 'when the game will be back online'. That's likely why you're reading this page after all.  Well read on, and we'll try and give you all the information you need to know.

How Long Will DayZ Servers Be Down?

There is no question that DayZ has a pretty good record when it comes to getting updates out and getting the servers back up in a timely manner - especially compared to some games who we shall not mention.

Bohemia Interactive, however, is fairly quick to update their game and get servers back online as quickly as possible, regardless of whether it is a small hotfix or a major update. Of course there are sometimes hiccups, and there are different procedures for different platforms.

In our experience, DayZ will always bring PC platforms offline first and once server maintenance has concluded, they'll move onto PlayStation and Xbox console platforms.

Whilst this isn't set in stone, we've normally come to expect that any DayZ maintenance period will last roughly between 1-2 hours for each platform.

Of course, the best thing you can do is check in with the DayZ Twitter account for updates.

When Will DayZ Be Back Online?

To be frank, it will take as long as it takes. Servers for each platform - PC, Xbox, PlayStation - are normally brought back online as soon as the devs have successfully rolled out the latest DayZ update or hotfix.

Only after these updates have been released will servers be returned to stable and allow players to jump back in.

If you're a massive DayZ fan it's potentially worth following the game on Twitter, as they're normally fantastic at providing updates to the community and clarity on how long updates or maintenance will last.

Do note, it's possible that when servers come back online, it's likely that you will be placed in a queue to get back into the game.
