Warzone Pacific crashing after update - How to fix

Warzone's new map Caldera crashes the game constantly for a number of players since the Warzone Pacific update, and if you are looking for a fix for Caldera crashing issue, we have a few possible solutions.
Warzone Pacific crashing after update - How to fix

The Warzone Pacific update has finally arrived and, starting from today (9th December), it is available for players worldwide.

Warzone Pacific boasts so many new features and content that we can almost call it Warzone 2.0, as it comes with a completely new map, the Caldera island, over 40 new WW2 weapons from Vanguard, numerous new vehicles, new contracts and public events, and much more.

With changes of such scope, some bugs and glitches are bound to happen, but unfortunately, a few are far more severe compared to some visual glitches and weird bugs.

By far the biggest problem currently is the fact that Warzone Pacific is constantly crashing for many players, seemingly for no apparent reason.

Why is Caldera crashing and is there any way to solve this issue?

Since the release of the Warzone Pacific update, players have been reporting numerous technical problems with the game, ranging from missing textures and audio files to the game being completely broken and even shutting players' systems off.

The crashing problem is not isolated on a specific system, rather it is reported to appear on PCs, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles. Some players are not able to even start the game, while others are getting the game frozen while playing a match on Caldera.

The "good" news is that these problems are most likely related to Warzone Pacific's instability and bugs, and it's something that developers need to fix, not you, your system is most likely fine.

Nonetheless, you should perform a few steps in order to make sure that this is not a problem on your side, especially if crashing is persistent and it won't go away.

Check GPU drivers

Whenever you are having technical issues with a new game (or a big new update for a game in this case), the first thing you should do is to check if your GPU drivers are up-to-date.

You can check for the latest drivers via your GPU apps, or you can download them from the links below:

And while the system requirements for Warzone Pacific have remained the same, keep in mind that Caldera is a much bigger and more detailed map, with significantly more elements added (denser foliage, better lighting, more objects, etc)  which can put a strain on your gaming rig.

Use "Scan and repair"

If Warzone Pacific is crashing on PC, try to repair it with Battle.net (Picture: Blizzard/Nikola Savić)

If you are playing on PC via Battle.net, make sure that your game is properly installed and that there are no corrupted files.

In Battle.net client, do the following:

  • Open the Warzone page
  • Click on the cog (options) icon next to the Play button
  • Select the "Scan and Repair" option and let Battle.net do its thing
  • Once it's done, restart your PC for good measure

Try the game and see if crashing on Caldera is gone or if it's still there.

Reinstall Warzone Pacific

When there's an update of such magnitude as this one that brings major changes to the game, sometimes it's best to simply uninstall the game and then do a fresh installation instead of just updating the game.

Uninstall the game (use some tools like CCleaner to clean the registry on PC), restart your system, and then install Warzone again.

And that's about everything you can do in order to potentially fix crashing issues, other than that we will have to wait for developers to fix the problem. If the problem continues, try not to play Warzone for some time, as there might be some serious bugs that can damage your hardware.
