Update: Warzone Season 4 Reloaded has been released and with it, a raft of weapon balance changes have been implemented. The tier list below now reflects this.
No weapon class experiences more wild swings gun meta than the sub-machine guns. From season to season what is considered the best SMG has seems to change, most recently the Mac-10, LC10 and PPSh-41 have all had their time in the sun.
It's not just the guns themselves that have been the subject of buffs and nerfs but also the way certain attachments affect various weapons has also had an effect.
It can leave even the most-seasoned Warzone player scratching their head, unsure why their favourite SMG is no longer melting opponents in the way that it once was.
If you've found yourself in that position at the start of Season 4 then don't worry, help is at hand as we've ranked all 17 SMGs in Warzone from best to worst for your convenience.
And it's not just the SMGs, we've looked at every weapon class - so if you want to pair it with a sniper or assault rifle, we've got you covered.
Warzone Season 4 Reloaded SMG tier list
With the release of Season 4 Reloaded there are now 18 SMGs, with the recently introduced OTs 9 the latest to join the game's arsenal. Season 4 Reloaded also introduced a number of weapon balance changes that are designed to make the worst gun's better, and the best guns worse, in an attempt to make any firearm in Warzone viable.
We have updated the tier list to reflect these changes.
Description of the tiers
- S-Tier: The best of the best. Even with mediocre attachments, this gun's better than half of the others in its category.
- A-Tier: Solid choices that can net you good results with the appropriate attachments.
- B-Tier: Middle of the pack. Solid choices for certain situations but can't directly compete with any top-tier gun.
- C-Tier: Very specific uses, mainly to compliment a loadout. This shouldn't be your primary weapon but can save you from sticky situations
- D-Tier: Trash, possibly competing for the worst guns in the game. Avoid at all costs.

The KSP's 16.6% maximum damage range increase propelled the otherwise underwhelming SMG to being a contender for one of the best guns in this category.

The Milano was another big winner following the Season 4 Warzone patch, and although we believe it's lacking compared to the absolute best SMGs still, it's no longer the worst gun in the game.
