IEM Katowice 2019

The Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) returns to Katowice, Poland between February 14 and March 3, 2019. This time, the event will host an official, Valve-backed CS:GO Major. Which means tthe prize pool is considerably larger this time round, rising to $1 million and making IEM Katowice 2019 the most lucrative IEM event in history. The world’s 24 best CS:GO teams will compete for that prize over three weeks of knife-edge competition. The first week will see the top 16 teams battle it out in the Challengers Stage at the ESL Studios in Katowice. Following this first stage, and lasting for three days, the best eight teams from the Challengers Stage will battle it out against the top eight teams from the previous Major. The Champion Stage, which will take place between February 28 and March 3, is the final stage of the tournament and will comprise a four-day playoff at the Spoden Arena. It is in this stage that the new World Champion will be crowned. “IEM Katowice has grown to become one of the most iconic esports tournaments in the world,” said Michal Blicharz, Vice President of Pro Gaming at ESL. “I expect that coupling the heritage of IEM with the gravity of a Valve Major Championship will elevate the tournament to what will be the most incredible IEM event in history.” Keep checking this page for updates on teams, format and talent as they are revealed.
