Diablo 2 Resurrected has finally launched, to the delight of myriads of fans across the globe. The cult action RPG classic is finally here, with revitalized graphics for both old and new fans of the game to enjoy.

The launch experience of Diablo 2 Resurrected has, at least for a number of fans, been less than ideal. This is after numerous issues were found to be plaguing the game, ranging from the game melting GPUs, to players not being able to launch the game, or the game constantly crashing... and for some players, the culprit has been the black screen of death.

So, why is this happening and can it be fixed?

Players report that they are getting a black screen in various situations whilst trying to play Diablo 2 Resurrected.

For some players, the black screen appears immediately upon launching the game, at which point the game freezes. Other players report that the Diablo 2 Resurrected black screen appears when they try to join or create a game.

When this happens, the only way for players to close the game is by alt-tabbing and killing the process in Task Manager.

Unfortunately, there's currently no permanent solution for this issue, as it is not something related to your PC or the game itself. Instead, the problem seems to originate from the game's servers being unstable, which causes the game to bug out and freeze.

The best thing you can do is to check whether the following items are working properly.

  • Make sure that your internet is working properly
  • Make sure that Diablo 2 Resurrected is green-listed in your antivirus software/firewall
  • Make sure that you have the latest GPU drivers installed

And that's about it. Unfortunately, that's all you can do at the moment. Hopefully, Blizzard will fix all the hot issues that are currently plaguing the game so that we will be able to enjoy a bug-free Diablo 2 Resurrected experience over the weekend.
