Hail Hydra: What's new in CS:GO's latest Operation?
The competitive CS:GO community  has collectively let out a sigh of relief as the UMP45 was finally nerfed in a patch launched on Tuesday May 24th.Players, analysts, and fans had been vocal in their complaints against the relatively low cost of the overpowered UMP45. Valve has now fixed that by adjusting the damage at range to be more in line with the other SMG’s.A number of other smaller changes were made balancing gameplay and tweaking maps, helping both the competitive scene and the more casual modes.


  • Players no longer respawn when upgrading to a bonus weapon in Deathmatch.
  • Added support for hostage maps in Demolition (for local/community servers.)
  • Improved radar spotting when mp_teammates_are_enemies is enabled.
  • Made Zeus show in pistol holster for players with a Zeus and no pistol.
  • Fixed bullets not penetrating “teammates” when mp_teammates_are_enemies is enabled.


  • Tweaked layouts of the following maps to better fit War Games and Wingman: Safehouse, StMarc, Lake, and Bank.
  • Moved CT spawn forward.
  • Added a bench at A for easier T access.
  • Fixed clip brushes poking through top flight of tunnel stairs.
  • Added clips to some lamp posts where player could get stuck.
  • Adjusted fade distances on some props.
  • Fixed visible nodraw seen from arch.
  • Added new map for Guardian and 2vs2 mode.
  • Added new map for Flying Scoutsman mode.



Also in the Patch was the exciting edition of Operation: Hydra, which includes a unique set of game modes rotating on a weekly basis. There are currently three Hydra events: War Games Jump into a match featuring unique twists on classic gameplay, featuring special heavy armor, low-gravity sniping, team deathmatch, and more.Wingman Put your friendship on the line in a quick 2v2 best-of-16 match on CS:GO's single-bombsite maps. The pressure is on - don't let your wingman down!Weapons Expert. How deep is your weapon pool? Play a 5v5 best-of-30 match with a twist - once you buy a weapon, you can't buy it again for the rest of the match. Coordinate with your team, grind the enemy out of weapons.These events are available to all CS:GO players. With, Operation Hydra All Access Pass holders will be able to earn additional XP and make progress toward an upgraded coin and item drops.
