Diablo 2 Resurrected open beta patch notes: Skill purchase change, bug fixes and performance

Following a fantastic first showing in the early access beta, Diablo 2 Resurrected's open beta kicks off on 20th August at 18:00 BST, opening the gates of the Burning Hells for all prospective heroes of Sanctuary. From the early access beta to the open beta, developer Blizzard has decided to make one nice quality-of-life change, and fixed several bugs, improving the game's stability and performance.

Let's kick things off with the quality-of-life skill purchase change in Diablo 2 Resurrected, followed by the full open beta patch notes.

Diablo 2 Resurrected skill purchase change

One quality-of-life change was made for the Diablo 2 Resurrected open beta. Basically, skill purchases now require separate button presses‎.

This is due to players accidentally picking skills they didn't intend to, prevalent mostly on consoles.

Blizzard explains: "We made this change because many players were accidentally allotting points to skills they didn’t intend to. We hope this change will mitigate that issue, especially since it’s more difficult for players to re-spec in Diablo II."

The developers definitely got this one right, as resetting skills and stat points in the game is a massive chore, compared to the effortless skill resets in Diablo III. Check out our guide on how to reset skills and stats in Diablo 2 Resurrected, and get ready for an arduous grind.

Since beta is, of course, beta, the early access portion wasn't without issues. The game seemed to crash for some players, and the issue of server connectivity did rear its ugly head, while some players couldn't trade with others.
