After three weeks of hard-fought online competition, League of Legends' EU masters is drawing to a close. The tournament's live finals take place at Leicester's Haymarket Arena this weekend, and will see the four remaining teams battle it out for a $150,000 prize pool. The tournament is a shot at glory for teams that didn't quite make it into the EU LCS. It's also a valuable opportunity for these teams to gain experience of playing in a high-pressure offline environment, with a live studio audience and thousands of Twitch viewers scrutinising their every move. Origen, MAD Lions E.C, GamersOrigin and Illuminar Gaming are the teams in attendance. Disappointingly for the home fans, UK-based outfit Excel Esports crashed out in the quarter-finals after a one-sided series against GamersOrigin. LCS EU caster Quickshot, talking to Red Bull esports, said that national pride is a big motivation for the teams playing in this competition."Teams are competing to prove they're the strongest from their own region, and to show off their region or league’s strength". Never ones to miss out on esports action in our own backyard, correspondents from GINX will be in attendance. So make sure to keep an eye on the website and our social media feeds for interviews and reports from the event. The semi-finals take place on Saturday and kick off at 5 PM BST, with the first being Origen vs MAD and the second GOG vs IHG. The grand-final will be played on Sunday evening. Keep up with the action on Riot Games' Twitch channel.
