Diablo 4 Possible DLC Classes

In this article, we discuss and speculate on the possible DLC classes that may come in the future on Diablo 4.
Diablo 4 Possible DLC Classes

The first step for any player in Diablo 4 is choosing your base class from the five available class options. While this has given all players a viable option depending on their preferred playstyle, some wonder whether more classes will be coming to the game soon, as the game is missing classes that were present in previous Diablo titles.

This has led many to believe that there may be new classes coming to the game, likely in future DLCs, but which classes can we expect to see? Well, that's where this guide comes in, as we will be discussing the classes that could appear in future DLCs of Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 - Possible DLC Classes

As it currently stands, five classes are available in Diablo 4, namely the Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorcerer classes. However, other classes have appeared in the franchise before, and while some of them are unlikely to reappear since their replacements are already in Diablo 4, for example, the Warrior class from Diablo 1 is represented as the Barbarian class in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 DLC Classes Likely to be non similar to the classes we already have
The classes we expect to see will be ones in the previous games that sport different playstyles compared to the ones we already have in Diablo 4, such as the Crusader or Amazon. (Picture: Blizzard)

So let's go over each of the alternate classes in the history of Diablo and discuss the possibility of each one's appearance in Diablo 4 as a possible DLC class:

Diablo 1:

  • Warrior: It's unlikely, as it evolved into the Barbarian class, which already exists in Diablo 4.
  • Rogue: It already exists in Diablo 4 as the actual Rogue class.
  • Sorcerer: Also already exists in Diablo 4 without any name change.

Diablo 2:

  • Amazon: There is a moderate chance of the Amazon class returning. Although there are similarities between the ranged Rogue and the Amazon, the hints about Amazons in Diablo 3 suggest a possible comeback. Fans are eager to see the Javazon class again.
  • BarbarianNecromancerSorceress, and Druid: These classes already exist in Diablo 4.
  • Paladin: The Paladin will likely return. As a core class in Diablo 2 and an expansion class in Diablo 3, it has distinct characteristics that differentiate it from other classes, making it a strong, if not the strongest, candidate for a comeback.
  • Assassin: It is unlikely for the Assassin class to return. The Rogue class, despite its different name, fulfills the role of a stealthy character with traps, daggers, and shadow attacks, making an Assassin class redundant.

Diablo 3:

  • Barbarian: Already exists in Diablo 4.
  • Witch Doctor: It is highly unlikely for the Witch Doctor class to return in Diablo 4. There is significant overlap between the Witch Doctor and the Necromancer, both being pet-based classes.
  • Wizard: Already exists in Diablo 4. The Wizard class is essentially the same as the Sorcerer/Sorceress with a different name.
  • Monk: There is a moderate chance of the Monk class returning, although it may compete with the Amazon class for a spot. The Monk's unique playstyle was well-received in Diablo 3.
  • Demon Hunter: It is highly unlikely for the Demon Hunter class to return. The Rogue, Assassin, and Demon Hunter are all variations of the same archetype, even though the name has changed. However, the use of double-hand crossbows may not be present in Diablo 4.
  • Crusader: It is extremely likely for the Crusader class to make a return. Essentially a renamed version of the Paladin, the Crusader was popular in previous games and is expected to return in Diablo 4.
  • Necromancer: Already exists in Diablo 4. The Necromancer's inclusion in Diablo 3 as a standalone package was unusual, but now it has become a core class in Diablo 4.

Based on the given information, we have identified four classes that are most likely to make a return in Diablo 4: the Monk, Crusader, Paladin, and Amazon. However, since the Crusader and Paladin are essentially the same class with a different name, we will refer to it as the Crusader for the likely returning class.

Diablo 4 DLC Classes Likely be Monk or Crusader
The most likely classes would be the Monk or Crusader as they are the most unique and will offer players more versatility in Diablo 4. (Picture: Blizzard)

Considering the popularity of the Rogue class in Diablo 4, it is unlikely that the Amazon class will be added. This decision is based on the potential balancing challenges for the developers and the risk of diluting the utility of the Rogue class. On the other hand, the Monk class offers a unique option for a comeback and may compete with the Amazon class. However, we believe the Monk class is more likely to be chosen, as it provides players with a greater variety of class options.

Regarding the speculation surrounding the sixth class in Diablo 4, many fans believe it will be a Paladin/Crusader over the Monk, though the Monk may come as a seventh class. This theory emerged after spotting what appears to be a Crusader or a Holy Knight in official pre-launch artwork in December 2022, as well as the fact that the Monk class is just slightly less popular than the Crusader.

Diablo 4 DLC Classes Crusader is most likely
Overall, the Crusader is the most likely DLC class for Diablo 4, given its unique abilities and more aggressive playstyle. (Picture: Blizzard)

Considering the utility and unique abilities of the Crusader, it is safe to say that there is nothing quite like it in Diablo 4 at the moment, even the Barbarian class, which is the closest resemblance. Therefore, the return of the Crusader class seems like the highest probable and reasonable choice.

But as always, this is mere speculation on our part, and we've come to this conclusion based on the popularity and functionality of the classes. However, the devs may choose to make a different call (if a new class is chosen to return at all). So be sure to check back here frequently, and as we get more news on the possible inclusion of a sixth class or seventh class in Diablo 4, we will be sure to update this listing and give you the most accurate information possible.
