With Lilith returning to Sanctuary in Diablo 4, there’s a lot to get excited about. We look toward some important aspects of the next entry into the iconic ARPG franchise. One of these aspects that prospective Nephalem might want to know about is the Diablo 4 regional servers and importantly if the game will be region-locked.
This guide explains if Diablo 4 will be region-locked or if it will be a free-for-all with no region-lock so D4 players from, for example, Europe and North America can play together, so let’s get started.
Update on 21 July 2023: We've updated this article with the latest information on Diablo 4's servers.
Is Diablo 4 Region-Locked?
Unlike its predecessors, Diablo 4 will NOT be region-locked and will feature full cross-play support between all platforms the game is available on. What exactly does that mean in practice?
Essentially, a Diablo 4 player or Xbox One from North America will be able to party with a player on PS5 from Asia, and a PC gamer from the UK, for example.
This means that you can also trade with other players from different regions, but there are some Diablo 4 trading restrictions in place.
At the time of writing, we are unsure how this will work in terms of latency. We suspect that if a player from North America invites a friend from Europe to a party, the actual game instance will take place on a North American server.
Diablo 4 Regional Servers?
For all intents and purposes, there will still be Diablo 4 servers situated in different regions. This is to minimize latency, of course, so technically, there have to be regional servers in Diablo 4.
However, you will not have to change servers and characters. That’s where the great news about no regional locking comes into play. To put it simply, players across the globe will be able to play together on all platforms.
In terms of Diablo 4 regional servers and choices specifically, we haven’t found any official information just yet.

We will endeavor to update this article once more information becomes available. For now, we can all rejoice that Diablo 4 will not be region-locked.
