Diablo 4 Final Boss Guide: How To Beat Lilith

Are you looking for a way to beat Diablo 4's final boss, Lilith? Is the Mother of Sanctuary killing you over and over again? Then you've come to the right place, as we explain in a step-by-step guide how to defeat the final boss.

This guide outlines the Lilith boss fight, including its phases, abilities you should avoid, how you can kill her to complete the game's story, and the possible rewards you will receive, so let's get started.

Update on 9 August 2023: We've updated this article with the best possible tips to beat Lilith, Diablo 4's final boss.

How To Beat Lilith: Diablo 4 Final Boss Guide

Lilith is the most difficult story boss in Diablo 4, just as it should be. One could argue that Duriel might be more challenging, but that largely depends on your class, as Duriel is in an enclosed space. Lilith, on the other hand, has a wide open space for you to fight in.

When I took on Lilith for the first time, I was level 50, and Diablo 4's final boss was level 49. I do recommend you level up to 50 before taking on Lilith, as you'll need all the items and help you can get. To prep for the fight, reach level 50, upgrade your gear at the Blacksmith, especially your weapon, and fine-tune your build a bit, both for maneuverability and survivability.

The Lilith boss fight starts in her "Creator of Sanctuary" form. Lilith throws out attacks in thin lines and moves swiftly across the arena. She also flies up into the air and smashes the ground beneath. Use dodge for this attack while running away from the line attacks that are relatively well-telegraphed.

Evading the line charges of Lilith is relatively easy, and you can even stand in some, as they are not deadly, in her first phase.

We recommend putting as much CC on Lilith as possible to Stagger Bar quickly, as her HP is higher than anything you have faced before. Once Lilith is staggered, Diablo 4 players must unleash all DPS cooldowns, including any vulnerability effects they can muster.

But when Lilith's HP pool reaches 0, that's not the end of the fight. Lilith goes back to full health, with the title "Daughter of Hatred," transforming into a deadly being of hate.

Lilith breaks the arena's platforms apart in Phase 2. (Picture: Blizzard)

In this phase, Lilith is much more aggressive, and her line attacks are ultra-deadly. AOE effects have a larger range, and she can one-shot a player. You'll need to learn the boss' ability telegraphs, avoid the blood boils on the ground, and go full out on DPS at this stage.

Why DPS? Well, Lilith periodically destroys pieces of the platform, making the fight area for Diablo 4's final boss smaller and smaller. In Phase 2, it is also much tougher to get her Stagger bar full. Avoid this and just keep damaging as much as possible while maybe using an Elixir and taking note of health vial/bar availability until Lilith falls.

Diablo 4 Lilith Boss Loot Drops

We received our first Unique item drop after beating Lilith. (Picture: Blizzard)

Apart from the reward of completing Diablo 4's main campaign and unlocking the endgame, Lilith drops a huge range of random items, including some Legendaries, once she is defeated. You will also likely get your first Unique item drop in the form of a ring.

It is called Mother's Embrace, with a power of "If a Core Skill hits 5 or more enemies, 20% of the resource cost is refunded."

This Unique item seems to be linked to Lilith. We spoke to some other players who have completed the campaign. Of the three who responded, all of them noted that they received the Mother's Embrace Unique as a drop from Lilith on World Tier 2 difficulty.

In case you missed it, check out Diablo 4's live-action launch trailer below and get hyped to kill Lilith at the end of the game's massive campaign.

Hopefully, this guide will help Diablo 4 players slay Lilith with relative ease and reap the rewards! If anything changes or easier tactics become available, we will endeavor to update this article. Good luck, Nephalem!
