As a live service title, Diablo 4 features a new season every three months, and we’ve got some good news to share. Players will get some bonus Renown preloaded onto their seasonal characters each season based on their progression in the Eternal Realm (standard servers).
This article explains exactly how much Renown per region your seasonal Diablo 4 character will be awarded, including bonuses they can unlock instantly with the preloaded Renown, so let’s waste no time!
Update on 19 July 2023: We've updated this article with more information about the Renown you will receive preloaded in Diablo 4 Season 1.
Diablo 4 Preloaded Renown For Seasonal Characters
Before we get started, it is very important to note that the preloaded Renown depends on what you’ve unlocked/explored on the Eternal Realm since launch. If you haven’t played much Diablo 4, don’t expect a big bonus per region.
The following carries over from Eternal Realm progress to every new seasonal character you create in Diablo 4:
- Altars of Lilith progression, including Stat bonuses, Renown (20), and Obol capacity from Altars.
- Map exploration: Map discovery points already earned, as well as the Renown earned for these discoveries (5 each).
Now, let’s take Fractured Peaks as an example of how much bonus, preloaded Renown you will receive once you start a seasonal character. In the example calculations below, we assume the player has found every Altar of Lilith and completely explored the Fractured Peaks region on the Eternal Realm.
- 77 Areas Discovered = 385 Renown
- 28 Altars of Lilith Found = 280 Renown
- Kyovashad Waypoint = 20 Renown
Based on the calculations above, you will receive 685 Renown preloaded onto your seasonal character. The other six waypoints will also be marked on your map, but you will have to travel there to activate them to earn the Renown.
Below, you can find the Renown rewards for each region in Sanctuary:
| Renown Level | Total Renown | Character You Are Playing | Account-wide Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| 200 Renown | 200 Renown | + Bonus XP + 3,000 Gold |
+ 1 Skill Point |
| 300 Renown | 500 Renown | + Bonus XP + 10,000 Gold |
+ 1 Potion Charge |
| 400 Renown | 900 Renown | + Bonus XP + 25,000 Gold |
+ 1 Skill Point |
| 400 Renown | 1300 Renown | + Bonus XP + 60,000 Gold |
+ 1 Skill Point |
| 500 Renown | 1800 Renown | + Bonus XP + 150,000 Gold |
+ 4 Paragon Points |
You will have to earn 1800 Renown in total per region to unlock everything, and with the preloaded Renown on a seasonal character, if the player maxed out the area on the Eternal Realm, they should be 100 points into level 3 right at character creation, with a nice helping of 13,000 Gold and enough XP to instantly level up a few times. Simply travel to all six waypoints and do one Stronghold, and you’ll already reach level 3 in a region.
In case you missed it, watch the Campfire chat below, where Blizzard discusses progress carrying over from season to season.
So there you have it; Diablo 4 players will get a nice bit of Renown preloaded onto their seasonal characters based on how much they’ve completed on the Eternal Realm. If anything changes, we will endeavor to update this article with haste!
