Diablo 4 Endgame Open Beta Before Release?

We discuss if Diablo 4 will have an Open Beta focusing on the endgame content before its release in June 2023.
Diablo 4 Endgame Open Beta Before Release?

In the Open Beta, where we got to experience the whole of Fractured Peaks of Diablo 4, some prospective Nephalem are wondering if there will be a Diablo 4 Endgame Open Beta

This article explains why you should not get your hopes up for an Endgame beta before the game's releases on 2 June 2023 (Early Access) and 6 June 2023 for everyone else, so let's bite down and get rip off that bandaid.

Update on 12 May 2023: While Diablo 4 won't have an endgame open beta, the developers did announce a Server Slam beta running from 12 to 14 May 2023, where you can get the Cry of Ashava Mount Trophy.

Diablo 4 Endgame Open Beta Incoming?

To be blunt...no, there will be no Endgame Open Beta for Diablo 4 before its release in early June 2023. Yes, there was a Closed Endgame Beta, and Blizzard continues to test systems internally, but gamers shouldn't hold their breath for any additional chance to jump into Sanctuary before the release of Diablo 4.

During a roundtable discussion, as per PCGamesN, the Associate Game Director, Joseph Piepiora, shut down hopes for an Endgame Open Beta, stating:

We’ve done an endgame beta in the past where we got to check out a version of the [endgame] features we’re talking about today, and we got a lot of really good feedback from that closed beta test before.

Looking forward we don’t have plans for an endgame beta before the game launches, but we are continuing to do internal testing on these features as we get closer and closer to our launch date on June 6.

That's it; there will be no Diablo 4 Endgame Open Beta to join. If you want to learn more, we've got you covered with an explanation of Diablo 4 endgame activities once you reach max level.

A quick list with explanations of endgame activities can be found below.

  • Nightmare Dungeons: These dungeons are endgame activities in Diablo 4, unlocked by finding Sigils in Sanctuary. Using a Nightmare Sigil turns any normal dungeon into a Nightmare dungeon, with unique affixes, such as portals spawning with additional enemies, environmental effects, and more.
  • Capstone Dungeons: Capstone dungeons are basically roadblocks to the next World Tier difficulty in Diablo 4. You need to complete a Capstone dungeon in order to progress to the next difficulty level.
  • Fields of Hatred: This is the PvP aspect of Diablo 4. There are areas marked as Fields of Hatred, where players can collect shards and then purify them. Other players can stop you from purifying shards, but if you get the purified shards back to town, you will receive some fantastic rewards.
  • Helltides: Helltide events are new region-wide events in Diablo 4 that unlock after World Tier 3 Nightmare difficulty. These events are part of the game's endgame content and offer players new challenges and opportunities to earn valuable rewards. Diablo 4's Helltide events will spawn a multitude of demons that drop a new currency called Cinders, which players can use to open special Helltide chests spread across the different regions of Sanctuary in Diablo 4.
  • Tree of Whispers: The Tree of Whispers is an endgame Diablo 4 bounty system sending players to different parts of the world to complete specific objectives for high-level rewards.

In case you missed it, check out the video below, where associate game director Joseph Piepiora, game director Joe Shely, lead game producer Kayleigh Calder, and game producer Ash Sweetring give you an overview of the Diablo 4 endgame activities.

So that's it; no holding your breath for a Diablo 4 Endgame Open Beta test. You will just have to wait until early June to start playing the game, make your way to max level, and experience all the endgame content on offer. If Blizzard decides to surprise us all, then we will endeavor to update this article.
