In Diablo 4, the Necromancer's Book of the Dead allows you to summon various undead creatures to aid you in battle, including Skeletal Warriors, Skeletal Mages, and the Golem. However, you can only unlock the Golems in the Book of the Dead when you complete the "Call of the Underworld" quest, which will become available when you reach level 25.

To start the quest, go to the Menestad Waypoint in Sarkova Pass, located to the west of Kyovashad in the Fractured Peaks zone of Sanctuary. We've designated the exact location of the quest in the image above. Once you arrive in the area, you must "pay your respects at the Shrine of Rathma" by interacting with it. Along the way, you'll encounter enemy mobs that you'll need to dodge or kill to proceed.

After you've paid your respects at the Shrine, speak with the spectral presence of Maltorius, the Master Necromancer in Diablo 4. This will trigger a brief scene that will play out. Following the cutscene, you'll need to collect 12 Unbroken Bones from the enemies that spawn in the area. Once you've collected these bones, you must find the Bitter Cave containing the vile artifact.

As you can see in the image above -- it's very noticeable, so it's hard to miss. The fastest way to go to the Bitter Cave is by Fast Traveling back to the Menestad Waypoint and heading southwest to Melnik's Hill. Interact with the Bitter Cave to enter it and begin the next objective: Open the Jar of Souls. Follow the cave passageway and interact with the structure to summon several Skeletons.

You must then slay the skeletons to fill the Jar of Souls. After speaking with Maltorius again in the cave, you will complete the Call of the Underworld quest in Diablo 4, earning 1,300 Gold and 9,792 XP. You will also unlock the Bone Golem in Diablo 4, a horrid protector that taunts enemies, forcing them to attack it.

Diablo 4 Necromancer Golems: Types, Abilities & Upgrades

The Necromancer class in Diablo 4 has three types of golems: Bone, Blood, and Iron. That said, the Blood Golem in Diablo 4 is unlocked at level 28, while the Iron Golem is unlocked at level 32. The Golem has three abilities: (1) It sheds a Corpse each time it takes up to 20% of its Maximum Life as damage, (2) It gains 10% Maximum Life, and the number of Thorns inherited from you is increased from 30-50%, and (3) You can sacrifice the Golem for 10% increased Attack Speed, but lose the ability to summon a Golem.

The Golem is a Summoning ability in Diablo 4 with a cooldown of approximately 16 seconds. It has both an Active and a Passive ability. The Passive ability reads: "You are protected by a golem with 659 Life that attacks for 143-175 (35%) damage. The Golem sheds Corpses as it takes damage." This means that the Golem serves as a protector for the Necromancer and will attack enemies on their behalf. Additionally, it will drop Corpses as it takes damage, which can be used to fuel other abilities.

The Golem also has an Active ability. When activated, the Golem becomes Unstoppable and Taunts nearby enemies, drawing their attention away from the Necromancer. The Golem also takes 30% reduced damage for the next 6 seconds, making it an even more effective tank for the Necromancer. If the Golem dies, it will respawn after a period of 20 seconds. The Golem deals physical damage, making it effective against enemies with low physical resistance. And that's everything to know about how to unlock Golem in Diablo 4.
