Diablo 4 Howling Warren Dungeon Location, Boss, Rewards, More

Here's everything you need to know about the Howling Warren Dungeon in Diablo 4, including its location, boss, rewards, and more.
Diablo 4 Howling Warren Dungeon Location, Boss, Rewards, More

Diablo 4 is a massive game with four explorable zones that features a total of 120 Dungeons. These are one of Diablo 4's most inclusive activities since their difficulty scales with your character's level. As such, you will always have a reason to venture into a Dungeon for loot, bonus XP,  gold coins, and more. The Howling Warren is one of the more challenging Dungeons you can encounter in Diablo 4. However, the reward it offers is worth the effort, which is why we have curated this guide that contains everything you need to know about the Howling Warren Dungeon, including its location, how to clear it, the final boss, rewards, and more.

Howling Warren Dungeon location in Diablo 4

The Howling Warren Dungeon is located on the northwestern side of the Scosglen region of the game. It's not far from the Tur Dulra Stronghold.

How to clear the Howling Warren Dungeon in Diablo 4

The Howling Warren Dungeon is relatively longer, with multiple objectives to complete. Whether you venture solo or with a group of friends, we recommend that you equip your Class Ultimate Ability, as you will face a plethora of enemies, including Elites. We also recommend crafting the Elixir of Beast-Slaying at the Alchemist to increase damage against Werewolves by 20% as the Howling Warren Dungeon is full of them.

Your first objective in this Dungeon is to slay two Howling Maws. Surprisingly, you won't come across them until you venture quite deep into the Dungeon. Soon, you will come across several Maggots, including Elites that spew fire attacks. They don't deal much damage, but it would help if you equip gear that offers some fire resistance. Some enemies will also cover the floor in white pools that freeze you. Avoid these, as they can hamper your mobility.

Howling Maws are Elite Werewolves that deal poison damage and spawn poison pools on the ground. Make sure to equip something that offers poison resistance. If you have legendaries that come with perks that spawn barriers or shields against Elite enemies, make sure to equip those as well, as they are a great help when you're playing solo.

After you have defeated both the Howling Maws, your next objective will be to travel to the Shrieking Den. This area is on the left-hand side of the map, so backtrack from where you killed the last Howling Maw and start going left. You will start to face more Lycans here, including  Thundering Lycan Terror with their slow-mo claw attacks that deal massive damage. Try and avoid those at any cost.

As soon as you reach the Shrieking Den, your next objective is to free five Prisoners in the area. Aside from the Lycans, this part of the Dungeon is crawling with Vengeful Spirits and Banshees that deal crippling damage, so make you're constantly moving and spamming your Core and Ultimate whenever you can. After you have freed all the Prisoners (sadly, not all of them survive) your next objective is to travel to the Feasting Cavern, the final area of the Howling Warren Dungeon.

How to Defeat the Howling Warren Dungeon Boss in Diablo 4

Thankfully, unlike many other Dungeons in the game, the Howling Warren doesn't have a single named boss in the game except for the Butcher, who may randomly spawn outside the entrance of the Feasting Cavern. However, you will face plenty of Elite enemies, including Lycans and Gylbarde Blinkswift skeletons. There's also a mini-boss, but more on that later.

If you have a single-target ability in your arsenal, it's best to use them on the Gylbarde Blinkswift Elites, as they soak up a surprising amount of damage. Keep spamming your AOE and CC skills on everything else, and you should clear this encounter in no time.

After you have cleared everything, an Elite Lycan Knarltooth will appear. As mentioned previously, it's not a boss but rather a mini-boss that functions like any Elite enemy.

Knarltooth can teleport across the arena, so if you're playing as a ranged character, it's best to conjure a shield to protect yourself from unexpected attacks. Also, it can summon Hellbinders that can restrict your mobility, so make sure to avoid those. Keep these in mind, and this final Elite enemy shouldn't be too hard to take down

Howling Warren Dungeon Rewards in Diablo 4

Completing the Howling Warren Dungeon will get you 30 Renown Points. In addition to this, you will unlock the Aspect of Arrow Storms Codex of Power for the Rogue class.
Some Elite enemies may also drop Legendaries at higher levels and, if you're lucky, perhaps a Sacred item or two. You will also get plenty of rare items, XP, and gold.
