Diablo 4 Jeweler: How To Unlock & Functions

If you're interested in knowing more about the Jeweler NPC in Diablo 4 and what they will offer you, then we have you covered. Below you can find everything you need to know to unlock the Jeweler in Diablo 4 and what functions they serve in the game.

Update on 12 July 2023: We've updated this article with the latest information on the Diablo 4 Jeweler, including how you can unlock it, and what functions this crafting vendor provides.

How To Unlock Diablo 4 Jeweler

The Jeweler will unlock a bit later than other NPCs in the game, such as the Blacksmith and the Alchemist, who unlock at level 10. Instead, the Jeweler will unlock at level 20, but the process of unlocking them is the same as the other main NPCs.

After reaching level 20, you'll be given a Priority Quest to go see the Jeweler in Kyovashad, the main hub city of Fractured Peaks. Once here, you'll need to upgrade the Crude Ruby into the Chipped Ruby for a small Gold fee, which unlocks the Jeweler directly afterward. The Jeweler will then be available in all the major cities throughout the game.

Diablo 4 Jeweler Functions

Now let's take a look at the Jeweler's major functions in the game, with the first being the ability to craft Gems and socket them into your gear to boost your character’s stats.

This can give you boosts in Damage, Resistances, Life, or Damage Reduction, on top of the item's Aspects, which can also be buffed with the help of the Occultist NPC. The Jeweler can also unsocket your items at any time, meaning you can swap out your socketed Gems as you need.

The Jeweler can also upgrade your Rings and Amulets to increase their effects, similar to the blacksmith's ability to do so for your weapons. Next, we have an exciting feature of the Jeweler; the ability to add sockets to a piece of gear that has none.

This means that if you find an item you love but it has no sockets, the Jeweler can add them in for you at the cost of a Scattered Prism. It's important to remember that all pieces of gear only have a specific capacity for slots; for example, the Cap can only take one socket, while the Pants can take two, so just keep these limitations in mind before investing in that socket since Scattered Prisms are hard to come by as they only drop from World Bosses.
