The first season of Diablo 4 did not go down well, from gameplay and balance changes resulting in review-bombing to long login queue times and other issues. One of the most frustrating issues is the Diablo 4 invisible walls bug/glitch, blocking players from continuing the seasonal quest, as they cannot get to the all-important Cormond NPC.
This article explains what’s going on with the Diablo 4 invisible walls bug and how you can possibly fix it, so let’s mount up and get started.
What is Diablo 4’s Invisible Wall Bug?
I tried Diablo 4 Season 1 at launch, and it wasn’t a great experience. Despite the nerfs to Barbarians (and all classes, really) in the form of Vulnerable Damage and Crit Damage reductions, I made a character called “NerfThis” and set off on the main seasonal questline, determined to showcase that my best Spin to Win Whirlwind build can still work.
Roughly one hour into the season, I couldn’t get to Cormond, the all-important NPC that provides you with Malignant Heart crafting and the questline you need to follow. Just before Cormond’s Wagon, I was blocked by an invisible wall. From the countless Reddit posts, thankfully, I was not alone.
As you can see, players are being blocked by Invisible Walls, and it looks kinda like severe rubberbanding as well. This is definitely a bug, and I am happy to report that according to a moderator on the official Diablo 4 Discord server, Blizzard is aware of the issue, so hang in there!
How To Fix Invisible Walls & Rubberbanding in Diablo 4 S1
So Blizzard is aware of the issue and will likely drop another Diablo 4 hotfix update very soon, likely between 22 and 23 July 2023. However, the developers did not provide an exact ETA at the time of writing.
From my experience, there is no clear fix to the invisible walls and rubberbanding issues in Diablo 4 Season 1 that players can implement. I waited over an hour before giving up. However, some players have reported that if you wait long enough, you might get lucky and pass through, making your way to Cormond.
