The item duplication exploits in the Diablo franchise are decades old, and a new one has reared its ugly head in Diablo 4 Season 2, returning more often than the Lord of Terror himself.
To be fair, Blizzard has done a lot right with the Season of Blood, from the awesome Vampiric Powers to huge XP increases, the addictive Blood Harvest events, and much, much more. Unfortunately, the developers were also forced to disable player trading due to a new item duplication exploit.
Blizzard Suspends Diablo 4 Trading
You might notice when you log into Diablo 4 that there’s an announcement about trading being suspended until further notice. If you are wondering exactly what is happening, then we’ve got an announcement from Diablo 4 Community Manager “filthierich” below.
We’ve suspended player trading in Diablo IV until further notice due to a duplication exploit. We are working on a fix to amend this issue and will update you once we’ve reinstated the ability to trade. We will continue to monitor this activity to ensure a healthy playing experience for all.
Any account that engages in gold and item duplication exploits will be actioned in accordance with our End User License Agreement. We thank you for reporting this exploit to us and your patience.
At the time of writing on 24 October 2023, trading remains suspended for Diablo 4 players. There is no indication when it might return, and no updated timeline has been provided. What Blizzard did make clear, however, is that accounts will be “actioned” who used this exploit.
According to the game’s End User License Agreement (EULA), users can get temporarily suspended or outright banned for an offense of this nature. Take this as a warning: Do not attempt to abuse exploits!
For those who’ve missed it, check out the in-depth developer livestream recording for Diablo 4 Season 2 to learn more about all the new features and content in the Season of Blood, including the Blood Harvest events and the Hunter’s Acclaim faction!
Hopefully, Blizzard can squash the Diablo 4 item duplication exploit with haste. Considering how many times one of these exploits has popped up in the Diablo franchise, it can/will likely return in the future…
