Expected Diablo 4 Open Beta Troubles: Queue Times, Bugs & More

All the issues you should expect in Diablo 4's Open Beta on PC and consoles as Blizzard tests various aspects of the game and its server infrastructure.
Expected Diablo 4 Open Beta Troubles: Queue Times, Bugs & More

We had a fantastic time in Diablo 4's Early Access beta as per our preview/impressions, and now, on 24 March 24, starting at 9 a.m. PST, the Diablo 4 Open Beta will begin. There were some issues experienced in Diablo 4's Early Access beta, and Blizzard does expect some troubles during the Open Beta.

In this article (take it as a PSA), we outline all the issues/troubles that players might experience during the Diablo 4 Open Beta, available free for all on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles, so let's get started.

Issues to Expect in Diablo 4's Open Beta

First and foremost, Blizzard has said multiple times that this is a true "beta" and not a "marketing demo." The Open Beta for Diablo 4 tests various aspects of the game, servers, and more. Further, the developers did release the first official Diablo 4 update, fixing some bugs.

With that in mind, Community Manager PezRadar has taken to the game's official Battle.net forums to outline issues that players might experience in the Diablo 4 Open Beta across all platforms. The TLDR version is that you might experience long login queues, maintenance periods, bugs, and more.

Check out the list of expected Diablo 4 Open Beta issues below as per Blizzard's new post on the forums:

  1. Queue Times: When we open the gates again this Friday to absolutely everyone, we are expecting a lot of people. There will be lengthy queue times, particularly on Friday when we first launch and during peak regional windows. This past weekend helped us to forecast the capacity we expect this weekend, and we will be using that capacity to intentionally stress our systems in preparation for launch. In summary, while we know it can be frustrating, we need queues to properly stress test our services, and we are designing to ensure we have them some of the time.
  2. Maintenance: As we monitor the population or encounter in-game issues to address, there may be times when we will take the game offline temporarily to deploy infrastructure adjustments or fixes.
  3. Bugs and Feedback: When you are in-game, whether you’re continuing to build your character from last weekend or trying Druid or Necromancer for the first time, we want to hear from you. The team will be monitoring the forums, where there are dedicated sections for bug reporting and technical support for PC and console, as well as general discussion, where you can leave feedback around anything Diablo IV.

Since you've been warned, you know exactly what to expect. Remember, this is a "beta," not a demo, and it will help the developers fix issues before the game's Early Access launch on 2 June 2023.
