If you have a Steam Deck, then we’ve got some bad news…for your social life. With the release of Season 2 (Season of Blood) on 17 October 2023, Diablo 4 is releasing on Steam. Now, Blizzard has crushed all hopes of ever leaving Sanctuary, revealing that Diablo 4 will be Steam Deck verified when it arrives on Valve’s storefront.
No Rest For The Wicked!
I’ve taken breaks from Diablo 4 when traveling or having to attend some family event, but now, with a Steam Deck in hand, I’ll never have to leave Sanctuary ever again!
Blizzard’s Diablo Global Community Development Director, Adam Fletcher, took to Twitter (sorry, Musk, X) to reveal that Diablo 4 will be Steam Deck verified on launch.
Yes, you could previously play Diablo 4 on the Steam Deck with a lot of tinkering, something I’ve personally avoided. Now, however, there’s no excuse not to pick up a Steam Deck and slay the hordes of the Burning Hells in Diablo 4 Season 2.
It is unclear just how well Diablo 4 (with the 1.2) update will run and if we will see any notable improvements from its unverified status versions. With that being said, the game already ran quite well on the Steam Deck via the Proton emulation.

Hopefully, Diablo 4 on the Steam Deck with verification will run even better than before, so we never have to leave Sanctuary again unless there’s no charger handy on a three-hour or more trip…but that’s what power banks are for, right?
