During our Diablo 4 review period, we blasted through the campaign, first slaying Lilith’s Lament (Act I boss) and then Astaroth, the final boss of Act II. If you want to know how to beat Astaroth, we’ve got you covered.
This guide explains how you can beat Astaroth with a complete boss fight guide, clearing Act II in the process. This guide does contain story spoilers for this portion of the game’s campaign; you’ve been warned.
How To Beat Astaroth: D4 Act II Boss Guide
If you are at Astaroth, you will have seen Lilith turning Donan’s son into a vessel for this mighty demon, which is let loose in the Cerrigar area. Astaroth is more focused on slaying the townspeople and wreaking havoc on their homes than the player, which is where our first advantage comes in.
Diablo 4 players can get a lot of free DPS time on the Act II boss when it runs off after villagers, which is exactly when you should use your high-damage cooldowns.
Attacks to avoid in the Astaroth fight include burning puddles of lava that should not be stood in, and fire breaths, which are easily dodgeable. If you do struggle to avoid these or manage your Evade cooldown, we suggest getting boots with a +1 Evade charge affix.
As soon as Astaroth starts to move to a different area, move after it quickly, even using movement speed cooldowns to get there faster and allow for more free DPS time. Use CC effects to fill the boss’ Stagger Bar quickly and blow it up once staggered.
You can also use a Fire Resistance Elixir to make the fight easier, and any cold damage effects will definitely help. Following these tips should make Astaroth a breeze to take down, and luckily for melee classes, this story boss does not hit particularly hard.
Good luck beating Astaroth in Diablo 4! The boss is not that hard, partly due to its knack for running off after villagers, and most players with decent builds and items should be able to complete Act 2 without a death against this story boss.
