How To Get More Evade Charges in Diablo 4

Learn how you can increase your Diablo 4 character's Evade charges to dodge those deadly attacks from bosses or elite enemies.
How To Get More Evade Charges in Diablo 4

We learned the hard way during our Diablo 4 review period that you need to use your Evade button, as most characters really can't take more than a couple of hits from a dungeon boss, elite pack, or, obviously, one of the game's World Bosses. You'll probably want to increase the Evade charges of your Diablo 4 character, and we've got you covered.

This article explains what Evade is, how to use it, and, most importantly, how players can get more than one Diablo 4 Evade charge to use quickly.

Update on 18 July 2023: We've updated this article for the release of Diablo 4 Season 1.

What is Evade in Diablo 4 & How To Use

Evade is a survival mechanic available to all Diablo 4 classes. Using it allows your character to dodge an attack in the direction they are facing. It is really as simple as that and is assigned to the "B" key on an Xbox controller and spacebar on a PC.

Evade has a cooldown of about five (5) seconds, so you need to use it in boss fights to avoid damage. We also used it to get around the massive world a bit faster before unlocking our mount. It is a VERY useful ability, so we don't blame you for looking for a way to get more Evade charges on your character...and it is possible!

Boots generally boast an Evade affix, with one of the following available on most boots you will pick up in Diablo 4:

  • +x Max Evade Charges
  • +x% Dodge Chance while Evading
  • x% Damage Reduction while Evading
  • Evade Briefly Grants x% Movement Speed
  • Attacks Reduce Evade's Cooldown by x Seconds

As you can see from the image above, we managed to get one with +2 Evade Charges. So how do you get one yourself? Well, it is all about RNG, with no clear way of getting boots with +2 Evade Charges to drop just because you are looking for it. You can, however, go through the rather expensive process of replacing a specific affix on your boots via the Occultist.

As a tip, we suggest that even if you have Legendary boots, you should always check out the stats of Rare boot drops when you find one, especially if they are Sacred or Ancestral quality, depending on the difficulty you are playing in. You can always add a Legendary power onto Rare boots, effectively turning it into a Legendary with the Codex of Power.

At the time of writing, the most extra Evade charges you can get that we know of is +2, making it three in total on your character.

Check out the Diablo 4 launch trailer below if you've missed it.

That's everything Diablo 4 players need to know about getting more Evade charges and how this defensive ability available for all classes works. If anything changes or a +3 Evade Charges item is found, we will endeavor to update this article.
